"Sides" are small portions of the script that actors will read during their audition.
choose the sides
Go through the script and find a short section (1-2 page) of the script for each character you're auditioning.
proofread the sides
Double and triple check the spelling, grammar, screenwriting structure of your sides. If you want to attract high-quality actors, you must show you are professional and that you are taking the production seriously.
After you think it's perfect, ask a teacher or AFF mentor to do a final proofread.

make a separate .pdf for each character
1. Open your script in Celtx.
2. Assuming the script is already proofread, go to the "TypeSet" tab at the bottom.

5. Next, click the "Mores and Continueds" tab.
6. Uncheck "Show Scene Breaks" and hit "OK."
7. Choose "Save PDF" (near the top), and Save it where you can find it. This will output the entire script as one document.
8. Next, open the .pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro (not all computers in the room have this software, so ask your facilitator.)
9. Scroll down to the page of the script that has the side you want, and note the page number.
10. Go up to the "Document" menu, and choose "Extract Pages ..."
11. Set the "From:" and "To:" fields to the correct pages, and hit "OK."
